Summer Picnic announcement

Dear Patients, Family Members, and Friends,

Summer is the perfect time to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate the community that makes The Vancouver Thalassemia Society of BC so special — and this year’s Annual Summer Picnic is shaping up to be our best one yet.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 22nd, from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, at Confederation Park in Burnaby. Whether you’ve been part of our community for years or you’re joining us for the very first time, this is a day to relax, share a meal, and spend quality time with the people who understand your journey best.

Why Confederation Park?

Confederation Park is one of Burnaby’s largest and most welcoming green spaces, and it’s an ideal setting for a family-friendly gathering:

  • Spacious picnic grounds with tables and shelters, including wheelchair-accessible seating
  • Accessible parking and washrooms, with designated accessible spaces close to the picnic areas
  • A playground and spray park to keep the kids entertained
  • Plenty of open lawn for games, conversation, and quiet moments in the shade

It’s a setting where every generation of our community — from young children to grandparents — can feel comfortable and included.

What to Expect

This picnic is about connection as much as it is about celebration. Expect good food, warm conversation, and the chance to meet other patients and families who are part of the Thalassemia community here in BC. It’s an opportunity to build friendships, share experiences, and remind one another that no one navigates this journey alone.

More details — including specific picnic area location, and parking directions will be posted next week, so keep an eye on our website and social media channels.

We can’t wait to see you there. Bring your family, bring your friends, and help us make this summer picnic a joyful celebration of our community’s strength and togetherness.

Kind regards, The Vancouver Thalassemia Society of BC

Together for Better Health, Stronger Communities.
